Al Ahly faces a total disappointment in the 10th Football Club World Cup, having lost both of its matches. In the latest defeat against Monterrey in a match for 5th place, Al Ahly suffered a 5-1 loss, displaying a lackluster performance.
In the first half, the African champion found itself trailing 3-1 after 22 minutes, with goals from Cardozo, Delgado, and Lopez. Despite Emad Meteab’s goal, Al Ahly entered halftime with a daunting score of 4-1.
In the second half, Al Ahly attempted to make a comeback but struggled to find its rhythm, especially in the absence of key player Mohamed Aboutrika. To make matters worse, they conceded another goal, this time from Cesar Delgado, who became the competition’s all-time top scorer with 5 goals.
Cesar Delgado has now surpassed the goal-scoring records of Messi, Denilson, and Abou-Treika at the Club World Cup.
