Moussa Sow, the Fenerbahce striker, was crowned the Senegalese Ballon d’Or (BOS) for 2013 by the Senegalese sports press. This marks the second time he has received this distinction, the first being in 2011. Sow expressed his pleasure in receiving such recognition, especially from journalists in his home country. He emphasized the significance of these awards, indicating that they showcase the close attention given to the work of African professionals in Europe or elsewhere.
Reflecting on his career at Fenerbahce, Sow acknowledged that things are going well for him, even though some initially questioned his decision to leave Lille for the Turkish club. He emphasized the importance of hard work both at the club and national team levels.
Regarding the situation in Senegal, particularly missing major events like the World Cup and AFCON 2013, Sow expressed optimism about improvement, especially with the return home, the opening of the Léopold Senghor stadium, and the support of the public.
While acknowledging the dream of every footballer to win the France Football Ballon d’Or, Sow remains focused on working hard. In the Senegalese Ballon d’Or rankings, he secured the top spot with 269 points, followed by Sadio Mané (Red Bull Salzburg) with 202 points, Demba Bâ with 139 points, Papis Cissé with 85 points, and Ibrahima Touré (formerly with Monaco) with 73 points.
