After the dismissal of André Villas-Boas following Tottenham’s defeat against Liverpool, the club is in search of a new coach. Several names are circulating as potential replacements, with five technicians considered favorites:
- Fabio Capello: The No. 1 favorite due to his special relationship with Tottenham’s sporting director Franco Baldini. However, Capello is currently the coach of the Russian national team, and the chances of him leaving before the World Cup are low.
- Tim Sherwood: Represents a cost-effective solution and is popular within the club. Villas-Boas’ assistant could be an interim choice while waiting for a major coach next season. However, his lack of experience on the bench is a concern.
- Michael Laudrup: Impressed with his style of play at Swansea, aligning with Tottenham’s search for identity. However, he is currently under contract with Swansea, and his agent indicates he has no intention of leaving.
- Guus Hiddink: Available since his departure from Anzhi, Hiddink has a positive history in England, notably with Chelsea in 2009. However, he might have plans to take charge of the Dutch national team after the World Cup.
- Glenn Hoddle: A former player with Tottenham for twelve seasons, Hoddle is highly regarded at White Hart Lane. However, he has not been a manager since his tenure at Wolverhampton in 2006.
The decision on who will replace Villas-Boas remains uncertain as Tottenham evaluates its options.
