The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber has issued a ruling on the complaint filed by South African coach Pitso Mosimane against his former club Al Ahly of Saudi Arabia.
Mosimane departed Al Ahly Jeddah before the start of the current season after leading the team to promotion to the Saudi Professional League, having recently taken charge of Abha Club.
According to South African newspaper I Diski Times, Mosimane has been awarded financial entitlements by FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber against Al Ahly Jeddah’s management.
Mosimane was reportedly earning a yearly salary of $1.16 million with Al Ahly, but he claimed there were outstanding bonuses totaling $144,000 as per his contract, which stipulated a special bonus if he led the team to the Saudi Professional League.
Additionally, Mosimane’s contract included an automatic renewal clause, which Al Ahly Jeddah allegedly did not honor, along with other contentious issues such as flight tickets that the club was supposed to provide for the coach between Jeddah and Johannesburg, as well as other incentives totaling up to $246,000.
As a result, Mosimane lodged a complaint with FIFA, asserting his entitlement to these dues. FIFA ruled in Mosimane’s favor, ordering Al Ahly Jeddah to pay him a sum of $355,000, along with additional compensation of $8,000 plus a 5% interest rate.
