Diego Placente, the 36-year-old former Argentina international, received good news as he was released from prison on Friday after spending 28 days there in connection to an alleged tax fraud case. The information was confirmed by a spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office in Cologne, Germany.
Reflecting on his time in custody, Placente shared, “Of course I suffered, especially at the beginning. It was really difficult without my wife and children. And without knowing how long I was going to be detained.” The former Leverkusen player is now free pending a final decision, as indicated by the Prosecutor.
