Ahmed Hassan will not be leaving the football world entirely, as he is set to join the technical staff of the Egyptian national team. This decision comes after his recent appointment to the technical staff by Chawqi Gharib, the new Egypt coach. Gharib justified the appointment by emphasizing the need for someone with vast experience, citing Hassan as the perfect candidate.
Hassan, one of the most memorable players in football history, has an impressive track record both nationally and internationally. Starting his professional career in 1995 with Aswan, he joined Zamalek in 2011. Notably, he is one of the few Egyptian footballers to have played in Europe, concluding his European journey at Anderlecht, where he achieved success in the Belgian championship, Super Cup, and Belgian Cup.
At the age of 38, Hassan holds the record for the most appearances for the Egyptian national team with 184 matches as of June 1, 2012. He has won four African Cup of Nations titles in 1998, 2006, 2008, and 2010. His impressive club career includes achievements with Ismaily SC, RSC Anderlecht, Al Ahly SC, and Zamalek SC, winning various championships and cups.
Hassan’s contributions extend beyond the club level, as he has also been a key figure in the success of the Egyptian national team, earning accolades such as being voted the best player of the African Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2010.
