CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: MUSA SCORES AND GOES OUT, OLYMPIAKOS AND HIS AFRICANS IN THE EIGHTH

On the last day of the Champions League group stage, African internationals faced mixed outcomes. Drogba and Galatasaray must await Wednesday to determine their fate, while Ahmed Musa scored for CSKA but won’t advance to the round of 16. In contrast, Olympiakos and its African contingent had a successful evening.

Olympiakos once again opted not to start any of its African players against Anderlecht. On the opposing side, Senegalese Cheikhou Kouyaté, Congolese Fabrice N’Sakala, and Chancel Mbemba began the match. Anderlecht suffered a nightmare evening with a 3-1 defeat, concluding the match with only eight players after three expulsions, including Kouyaté and N’Sakala. Delvin Ndinga entered in the second half to contribute to the Greeks’ victory, while Frank Acheampong highlighted Anderlecht’s struggles in the competition. Gaétan Bong, Sambou Yatabaré, and Algerian Carl Medjani remained on the bench.

CSKA Moscow, despite Ahmed Musa’s opening goal, faced a 1-2 defeat against Viktoria Plzen, leading to their elimination from European competitions.

In his first start with the PSG pro group, Malian Kalifa Traoré experienced a 1-2 defeat against Benfica.

Didier Drogba’s Galatasaray aims to qualify for the eighth against Juventus after their match was halted due to snow, resuming at 1 p.m. GMT.

Despite the absence of Yaya Touré, Manchester City secured a significant victory, defeating Bayern Munich 3-2.
