Following the triumph of the 9th Francophonie Games in Kinshasa, President H.E Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi expressed his aspiration to host another major sporting event in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In a special briefing on Thursday, February 22, 2024, the President declared his desire to promote the DRC’s candidacy for the 2029 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in football.
“I aim to promote the DRC’s candidacy for AFCON 2029 in the Democratic Republic of Congo,” He announced.
Undoubtedly, a formidable challenge, hosting the AFCON, involves overcoming numerous internal hurdles within the next five years.
Tshisekedi acknowledged the magnitude of the task, emphasizing the need to initiate groundwork promptly.
