Essam El-Hadary, the former goalkeeper of the Egyptian national team, has commented on Hossam Hassan’s appointment as the coach of Egypt’s national team, succeeding Roy Vitoria.
In an interview with Saudi’s Ssc channel, El-Hadary addressed the setback Egypt faced in the Africa Cup of Nations, stating, “What happened to the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations was a setback, but I don’t know who should be held accountable for it, whether the coach, management, officials, or players.”
Regarding his opinion on Hossam Hassan taking over the coaching duties of the Egyptian national team, El-Hadary remarked, “Egyptian football needs a 180-degree change, and Hossam Hassan will not solve the crisis or add anything, although I wish he could. But the problem does not lie with Hossam Hassan.”
Elaborating further, he stated, “Egyptian football needs a new foundation and a fresh start, just like constructing a building.
We need to rebuild from scratch, and Captain Hossam is not responsible for that.”
El-Hadary concluded his remarks by saying, “If Hossam Hassan succeeds, then praise be to God, and if he fails, do not blame him unfairly.”
