Me Augustin Senghor, the president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), is urging the government to take urgent action for the rehabilitation of Demba Diop and Léopold Sédar Senghor stadiums. Senghor emphasizes the poor state of the existing stadiums and the upcoming start of the elite championship, urging swift measures for their improvement.
The president of the FSF highlighted the significance of the upcoming football season, with League 1 set to commence on December 14. Additionally, he pointed out that the national A team matches and the African Cup of Nations under 20 are scheduled to take place in Senegal in January 2025.
It’s noteworthy that Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium was suspended for one year following incidents during the Senegal-Côte d’Ivoire match in October 2012. The suspension was recently lifted, but renovation work on the stadium is still ongoing.
