Cédric Hountondji, the French defender who has been training with Stade Rennais, wore a broad smile as he signed his first professional contract with the Breton club. The young talent, who has been working alongside Phillipe Montanier’s first team since the start of the season, committed to the club for the next three years.
Hountondji, an international U19 player for France with Beninese origin, expressed his joy after the signing, saying, “It’s a great day, I’m proud to sign professionally for my training club. I thank my educators. I see this contract as an important step. I hope this will be the beginning and not the end.”
Eager to continue his progress, Hountondji aims to follow in the footsteps of another talented player, 20-year-old Raphaël Varane of Real Madrid. While acknowledging that Varane is much further ahead, Hountondji sees similarities in their profiles and recognizes that he has a long way to go to catch up.
