The Gabonese national first division championship, organized by Linafoot (National Football League), is set to resume on December 22, according to an announcement by Joël Anicet Birinda, the president of Linafoot. The resumption of the championship had faced delays due to clubs going on strike to demand state subsidies. However, the authorities have now committed to honoring their obligations, allowing the league to resume.
The choice of December 22 for the restart is influenced by Gabon’s hosting of the CEMAC Cup. The season is scheduled to kick off on December 23. Notably, the upcoming season will feature the debut of promoted clubs Port Gentil FC and Océan FC. The race for the succession of the Bitam Sports Union, the previous champion, is set to begin with the resumption of the championship.
