Ghana secured qualification for the next round in the Volleyball World Cup after a hard-fought victory against Ivory Coast (3-2) on the second day of the 2nd qualifying round in Ivory Coast. The Black Queens had previously won their first match against Nigeria (3-1), marking their second consecutive victory in the competition.
In another match between Nigeria and Togo, the Super Falcons emerged victorious with a comfortable win (3-0). While Ghana has already secured qualification, the battle for the second ticket is now between Ivory Coast and Nigeria, with Togo already eliminated.
These qualifiers in Abidjan involve four sub-regional countries: Togo, Ghana, Nigeria, and the host country, Ivory Coast. The teams are competing in a single group over three days, and the top two teams at the end of the tournament on Saturday will directly qualify for the final round of qualifiers to be held in Algeria.
The 2014 Volleyball World Cup will take place in Italy, with only one African female representative earning the opportunity to compete on the global stage.
