Chawki Gharib has been appointed as the new coach of the Egyptian national football team, succeeding Bob Bradley. Gharib, a former assistant coach from 2004 to 2011, takes charge of the Pharaohs after Bradley’s contract was not renewed. Bradley’s tenure ended without achieving the primary goal of qualifying Egypt for the 2014 World Cup. Gharib was part of the coaching staff during Egypt’s triumphs in the 2006, 2008, and 2010 African Cup of Nations as an assistant to Hassan Shehata.
