The Democratic Republic of Congo has submitted its candidacy to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). A delegation, including the secretary of the Ministry of Sports Barthelemy Okito and the president of the Congolese Association Football Federation (Fecofa), is currently in Cairo, Egypt, to present the country’s bid. The DR Congo had previously expressed interest in hosting the 2015 AFCON but withdrew its bid. Now, with renewed efforts, the country aims to secure the opportunity to host the tournament in 2019. The Confederation of African Football will make the final decision after evaluating all candidate submissions. Other countries in the running include Guinea, Zambia, Gabon, Ivory Coast, and Algeria.
