William Gallas, aged 36, expressed his desire to return to Olympique de Marseille after his contract with Tottenham ended, rather than making a move to Australia. Gallas, who played for Marseille from 1997 to 2001, wanted to contribute as a mentor to the team. He stated, “If I had stayed in Europe, I would have wanted to go to a club where I would have arrived as a replacement, to supervise the squad a little.” Gallas specifically mentioned Marseille, expressing his willingness to play a role in guiding young players and contributing when needed. However, Marseille did not show interest in his proposal. Eventually, Gallas signed a one-year deal with Perth Glory FC in Australia, joining the likes of Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey.
