Zambian player Rainford Kalaba was not selected by the national team for an international friendly against Egypt. The decision was attributed to an ongoing dispute between Kalaba’s club, TP Mazembe, and the Zambian Football Association. In October, Kalaba and two teammates were arrested for allegedly faking injuries to avoid playing in a friendly match against Brazil. This incident led to a crisis between the federation and TP Mazembe. While the players were eventually released and returned to training, the non-selection of Kalaba for the Egypt friendly indicated that the dispute had not been fully resolved.
