The Olympic champion in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 400 x 100 meters believes that, following the retirement of captain John Terry, the Manchester United defender should be recalled: “Now that Terry has retired, the boss would be crazy not to call Rio. He’s certainly over 30, but look, some defenders like Paolo Maldini play until they’re 40. Rio is still the best English defender.”
Usain Bolt is not the only one supporting Rio Ferdinand. After the defeat of the Reds Devils (3-2) against Tottenham, Sir Alex Ferguson also commented on the subject: “Rio could very well do the job in the selection, but he should concentrate on his career here.” The central defender, capped 81 times during his career, hasn’t worn the Three Lions jersey for sixteen months.
