It is with deep sorrow that we learn of the tragic car accident involving Walter Nyamirandu, president of the Malawi Football Federation (FAM), last Friday. While Mr. Nyamirandu survived the accident with only superficial injuries, his fiancée, Maria Inglis, and another passenger tragically lost their lives. Additionally, Allansten, the son of the FAM president, remains in the hospital in critical condition.
The accident occurred as they were en route to Lilongwe to attend a Cup semi-final match, approximately 80 km from Blantyre, Malawi’s capital. The car reportedly rolled multiple times after colliding with another bus transporting food. Our thoughts are with Mr. Nyamirandu and his family during this difficult time.
