Mohamed Salah scores as Trabzonspor extend winning run with victory over Alanyaspor
Trabzonspor continued their impressive run in the Turkish Super League after securing a comfortable 2-0 victory over Alanyaspor away from home on Sunday evening.
The Black Sea Storm delivered another impressive performance at the Alanya Oba Stadium to claim all three points in their Matchday 11 encounter, extending their winning streak in the league to six consecutive matches.
Trabzonspor enjoyed a relatively stronger spell, particularly in the first half, as both sides exchanged possession and created opportunities in an entertaining contest.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 17th minute through Vagner Peña, who capitalised on a long delivery from his team’s defence before driving into the penalty area and calmly finding the back of the net.
Trabzonspor doubled their advantage 17 minutes later, with Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah getting his name on the scoresheet to strengthen his team’s grip on the encounter.
The Pharaoh combined effectively with Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu, who provided the assist on the edge of the penalty area. Salah collected the pass, showed excellent individual ability to get past Alanyaspor defender Nuno Lima before slotting the ball into the net.
The goal further underlined Salah’s importance to Trabzonspor as they continued to dictate proceedings and maintain their advantage heading into the break.
The Egyptian international remained influential after the restart and came close to earning his side a penalty in the second half. However, the referee’s initial decision was overturned after the assistant referee flagged for offside against Onuachu in the build-up.
Salah eventually made way in the 89th minute, with Metehan Mimaroğlu coming on as Trabzonspor comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to secure another important victory.
The result represents Trabzonspor’s sixth consecutive league victory and their eighth win of the campaign, highlighting their growing consistency as the Turkish Super League season progresses.
The victory takes Trabzonspor to 25 points from 11 matches, keeping them second in the standings, while Alanyaspor remain 13th with 12 points following their latest defeat.
