Paris Saint-Germain secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Troyes at the Parc des Princes on Saturday, but the result could have been more emphatic without an outstanding performance from Troyes goalkeeper Hillel Konate.
The match was played during the 10th round of Ligue 1, with Konate repeatedly denying the home side before and after half-time. He made six saves in total, keeping Troyes in the contest for long periods.
His first major intervention came in the fifth minute, when he tipped Senny Mayulu’s effort on to the crossbar. The Burkina Faso international was eventually beaten in the 39th minute, when Ilya Zabarnyi headed PSG in front.
Ferran Torres also found Konate in his way on several occasions, but the 31-year-old goalkeeper kept the scoreline to a single goal. PSG held on to strengthen their position at the top of the league table.
Although the defeat brought his first goal conceded in three appearances in the top flight, Konate’s display was another indication of his ability to perform at the highest level. He had kept clean sheets in Troyes’ two previous matches against Toulouse and Le Mans.
Konate’s rise has come after most of his career was spent in France’s lower divisions. He became Troyes’ first-choice goalkeeper last season after Nicolas Lemaitre suffered a knee injury in October 2025.
The 31-year-old has retained his manager’s trust this season, keeping his place ahead of summer signing Patrick Beach.
Troyes will next face Le Havre in the 11th round of the French championship. The listed odds for the match are 2.03 for a Troyes win, 3.40 for a draw and 3.18 for a Le Havre victory.
