LOSC have extended Hamza Igamane’s contract until June 2031, despite the Morocco international having been sidelined for 10 months with a knee injury.
The 24-year-old forward has not played since his injury, but the Lille club have decided to strengthen their commitment to him during his lengthy recovery.
LOSC president Olivier Letang said the decision was intended to provide a clear show of support for the player, while stressing that his rehabilitation must continue according to the correct medical timetable.
The contract extension reflects the impact Igamane made during his first six months with the club. He scored nine goals in 18 appearances in all competitions after joining Lille, before his progress was halted by injury.
His return to collective training is scheduled for immediately after the November international break. No date has been set for his return to competitive action, with the club focused on ensuring that he completes each stage of his recovery without being rushed.
LOSC are due to face Stade Rennais in the 10th round of the French championship in the near future, but Igamane is not expected to feature while he continues his rehabilitation.
The striker’s new deal keeps him at Lille until June 2031 and underlines the club’s belief in a player who had quickly established himself as an important attacking option before his 10-month absence.
