Paris Saint-Germain extended their winning run to 11 matches in all competitions by beating Troyes 1-0 at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.
The result moved the defending Ligue 1 champions to 23 points at the top of the table after 10 matches. Troyes remain on eight points and sit 16th.
The decisive moment came in the 39th minute, when Ukraine defender Illia Zabarnyi headed Senny Mayulu’s cross into the net.
Paris Saint-Germain could have taken the lead much earlier. Mayulu struck the right-hand post with a fifth-minute effort, while Desire Doue sent another opportunity over the crossbar.
Troyes also created a chance to level the match. Renaud Ripart met an attempt with his head in the 28th minute, but the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper made the save.
The hosts controlled the game for long periods but did not appear to need to take unnecessary risks in search of a second goal. Having secured the result they required, Paris Saint-Germain managed the remainder of the contest without adding to their advantage.
The victory came after an emphatic result in Europe for Luis Enrique’s side, who defeated Spanish club Villarreal 6-0 in the Champions League in their previous match. Paris Saint-Germain also lead that competition.
Morocco international Achraf Hakimi was absent against Troyes, with the coaching staff, led by Luis Enrique, choosing to rest him before the international break.
Despite opportunities at both ends, Zabarnyi’s first-half header proved enough to give Paris Saint-Germain another league victory and maintain their position at the summit.
