Nigerian defender Nosa Edward Obaretin has revealed Sergio Ramos is the player he has admired most during his career.
Obaretin, who is currently on loan at Lorient, was speaking about his ambitions and his style of play in an interview with Calciomercato.
Asked about his objectives for the season, the type of defender he is and the player he looks up to, Obaretin said: “Obviously, I want to play as much as possible, and if I score, even better. As a defender, I like to be aggressive, but I also enjoy playing with the ball, and I take a lot of pleasure from that.”
The Nigerian also believes there are areas of his game that still need improvement, particularly when contributing in attack.
“I think I should still improve a little, especially in attack, perhaps on corners,” he said.
Obaretin then identified former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos as the defender who made the biggest impression on him while he was growing up.
“When I was younger and he was at the top of his game, I always watched Sergio Ramos,” he added.
“I think he is a very solid defender, and I always tried to learn as much as possible from him, even by watching him on television, of course, during Real’s Champions League matches, because for me, he was an exceptional defender.”
