OGC Nice are keeping a close watch on AIK midfielder Abdihakim Ali, according to Sportbladet, and have sent scouts to Sweden to assess the player in person.
Ali, a Swedish international of Somali origin, could become an increasingly attractive option for the French club because his contract with AIK is approaching its expiry. No agreement has yet been reached over an extension, leaving Nice with an opportunity to make progress in their pursuit.
AIK have not given up hope of retaining the midfielder. The Swedish club remain keen to reach an agreement with Ali, but negotiations have so far failed to produce a deal. With Nice now showing interest, competition for the player could increase over the coming months.
Ali is valued at 400,000 euros by Transfermarkt, a figure that could make him an appealing opportunity in the market. Nice’s interest may also encourage AIK to accelerate discussions as they seek to avoid losing the player on terms that would favour the French club.
Angers are due to face OGC Nice in the 10th round of the French championship.
