Badalona sign Moroccan Zineb Redouani

Spanish women’s football club Badalona have completed the signing of Moroccan international defender Zineb Redouani on a free transfer from AS FAR as they look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

The 26-year-old joins the club on a permanent deal, bringing an end to her successful spell with the Moroccan giants to an end.

Redouani arrives in Spain with considerable experience, having established herself as one of the prominent defenders in Moroccan women’s football during her time at AS FAR.

The Moroccan international joined the Rabat-based club in 2019 and enjoyed a trophy-laden spell, winning seven Moroccan league titles and six Throne Cup trophies.

Her consistent performances at both club and international levels have also earned her individual recognition. She was named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after helping Morocco reach the final of the competition.

Redouani’s impressive displays also saw her earn a place in the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Women’s Team of the Year for 2022, further highlighting her status as one of the continent’s outstanding defensive talents.

Speaking following her move, the 26-year-old expressed excitement about taking the next step in her career and testing herself in Spanish football.

“I have long looked forward to playing in a competitive league like the Spanish one, which is known for its high technical and tactical standards,” she said.

The defender also indicated her enthusiasm about embracing the new challenge and contributing to Badalona’s ambitions.

Her arrival is expected to provide the Spanish club with additional defensive strength, while also giving the Moroccan international an opportunity to gain valuable experience in one of Europe’s most competitive women’s football environments.

For Redouani, the transfer represents a significant new chapter after several successful years at AS FAR, where she established herself as a key figure and collected numerous domestic honours.
