Jamal Musiala has returned to team training with Bayern Munich, providing a significant boost as the club prepares for a demanding run of fixtures.
The Germany international has been out for five and a half weeks but took part in a training session at Sabener Straße for the first time since suffering his injury, according to Bild.
Musiala’s return will be welcomed by Bayern, who have been without one of their main sources of creativity in the final third. His close control, dribbling and vision have made him one of the club’s most dangerous attacking players.
However, taking part in training does not mean the attacking midfielder is ready to return immediately to competitive football. Bayern are expected to control his workload and gradually rebuild his fitness after the lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The club will be keen to avoid rushing Musiala back, despite the importance of having the Germany international available for the fixtures ahead.
Bayern’s next Bundesliga match is away to Mainz on Saturday. It remains unclear whether Musiala will have recovered sufficiently to be included in the squad or feature in the game.
