Sports Illustrated has reported that Toronto FC, a Major League Soccer (MLS) club, is interested in acquiring the services of Samuel Eto’o from the next season. The Canadian club had also shown interest in Italian players Alberto Gilardino and Fabio Quagliarella. Eto’o, currently with Chelsea, signed a one-season contract and will be a free agent from June 2014 if he doesn’t receive an extension from Chelsea. While there is interest from Toronto FC, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may consider retaining Eto’o for another season if he maintains his recent good performances. Eto’o had attracted attention from various clubs when he left Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer.
