Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Fenerbahce at half-time after both sides scored through deflected efforts in their Champions League meeting on Wednesday.
The match is being played at Chobani Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, in the fourth round of the competition.
Liverpool took the lead in the 25th minute when young English midfielder Trey Nyoni struck a powerful shot which hit a Fenerbahce player, changed direction and found the net.
Fenerbahce responded just four minutes later through former Manchester United player Mason Greenwood. His direct free-kick struck the defensive wall and deceived Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker to make it 1-1 in the 29th minute.
The visitors controlled possession for much of the opening period, recording 69% compared with Fenerbahce’s 31%.
However, the two teams produced a similar number of attempts. Liverpool had nine shots, with one on target, while the hosts managed eight efforts, two of which were on target.
