Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono breaks silence after fatal De Miguel collision

Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono has spoken publicly for the first time since the on-field collision that led to the death of Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel, describing the aftermath as “the hardest days” of his life.

Owono collided with De Miguel during the match between Andorra and Tenerife. De Miguel later died, leaving both clubs affected by the tragedy.

Andorra published a statement containing Owono’s first message since the incident.

“Andorra are still deeply affected by the death of Jesus de Miguel,” the club said. “In these extremely difficult moments, our player Jesus Owono wants to share some words himself.”

Owono said he was struggling to process what had happened.

“These are the hardest days of my life,” he said. “I am finding it difficult to find the words, and it is very hard for me to take in everything that has happened.”

He added: “I feel enormous pain because of the loss of Jesus. I am thinking of him, his family and everyone who loved him.”

The goalkeeper acknowledged that there would be matters to address in the days ahead, but said his immediate thoughts were focused solely on De Miguel and the striker’s relatives.

“I know there are many things that need to be dealt with, and I will face whatever comes with the utmost respect,” Owono said.

“But right now, and in all honesty, I cannot think about anything other than Jesus and the pain we are living through.”

He ended his message with a short tribute: “Rest in peace, Jesus.”

Andorra asked everyone to show “the utmost sensitivity and respect” when discussing the incident, with particular consideration for De Miguel’s family and all those affected by his death.

The fixture information accompanying the statement lists CD Badajoz against Tenerife in the Copa del Rey on 04 November 2026. It also lists Tenerife against Andorra in the Segunda Division on 08 November 2026, followed by Mallorca as the opposing team in the schedule information provided.
