Sunderland AFC have extended Brian Brobbey’s contract, tying the Netherlands international to the club until 2031.
The 24-year-old striker, who is of Ghanaian descent, joined Sunderland in the summer of 2025 to strengthen the club’s attacking options. The Black Cats confirmed the new long-term agreement in an official statement.
The deal represents a significant vote of confidence from Sunderland’s leadership and underlines the club’s intention to build a lasting project around players capable of making a substantial contribution to the team.
For Brobbey, the extension gives him the opportunity to continue developing and establish himself as a long-term part of Sunderland’s sporting plans. His market value is estimated at 50 million euros.
The forward had been linked in recent months with several leading clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal. Sunderland’s new agreement puts them in a strong position should interest from those clubs lead to negotiations over the player.
Brobbey’s contract extension comes shortly before Sunderland’s next Europa League fixture. They are due to face Dinamo Zagreb in the fourth matchday of the league phase.
The published betting odds for the match list Sunderland as favourites at 1.35. A draw is priced at 4.40, while a Dinamo Zagreb victory is listed at 5.80.
