Ghana have been shortlisted for the Men’s National Team of the Year award at the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards.
The Black Stars are among 10 national teams nominated for the prestigious accolade following their return to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions will face competition from Algeria, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia.
Ghana’s inclusion on the shortlist comes after an eventful year for the national team, who secured qualification for their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance and progressed beyond the group stage at the tournament.
The Black Stars’ nomination places them among some of Africa’s leading football nations, including reigning continental champions and teams that have enjoyed notable success on the international stage.
Morocco, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Egypt are also among the countries recognised by CAF, while Cabo Verde and DR Congo have earned places on the shortlist following their respective performances.
The nomination provides another opportunity for Ghanaian football to receive continental recognition after a period of rebuilding for the senior men’s national team.
The 2026 CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, 7 December, when the winners across the various categories will be announced.
The annual awards celebrate outstanding performances and achievements in African football, recognising players, coaches, teams and other stakeholders who have made significant contributions to the game over the past year.
