Arsenal are considering advancing talks for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi in January, with Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring the 20-year-old, according to Football Insider.
Kroupi has attracted attention after making a strong impression in the Premier League. The France-born forward scored 13 goals in the competition last season, setting a record for a teenager in a single Premier League campaign.
His finishing, pace and potential for further development have placed him among the most sought-after young players in the transfer market. Arsenal are reportedly keen to move quickly during the January transfer window in an attempt to gain an advantage over their rivals.
Kroupi returns after three-month absence
Kroupi’s progress was interrupted by a metatarsal fracture, which kept him out of action for almost three months. He has now returned to competitive football and is gradually rebuilding his match sharpness with Bournemouth.
His comeback is a significant boost for the Cherries, who are relying on him to add energy and attacking threat to their forward line. Kroupi is also expected to use the second half of the season to demonstrate that last campaign’s performances were not an isolated achievement.
Arsenal’s interest comes as the London club looks to strengthen its position in the race for his signature. The Gunners are understood to be considering opening discussions in January rather than waiting until the end of the season.
Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping a close watch on the player’s situation. The involvement of the French club could make negotiations more complicated for Arsenal and increase competition for Kroupi.
However, Bournemouth are reluctant to lose one of their key young players during the season. The club do not want to release a forward who remains central to their plans for the remainder of the campaign.
That stance could make any January move difficult, despite Arsenal’s desire to progress the deal and PSG’s continued interest. Kroupi’s future is therefore likely to become one of the issues to follow during the next winter transfer window.
Bournemouth are due to play Sparta Prague in their fourth match of the Europa League league phase.
