Ahmed Sobeih’s lawyer, Mohamed Rashwan, says he is waiting for the Players’ Affairs Committee to rule on the defender’s request to terminate his contract with El Sharqia ENPPI.
Sobeih’s contract with the club is due to expire at the end of the current season, but he has asked for it to be ended early and for his outstanding financial dues to be paid.
The Egyptian Football Association’s Players’ Affairs Committee held an official hearing today to listen to Sobeih’s account and his demands in the complaint he submitted against ENPPI.
Rashwan said the committee considered the player’s submissions and claims during the hearing, as well as the official response provided by the ENPPI board.
The lawyer added that Sobeih’s legal team was now awaiting a decisive and fair ruling from the committee in the coming hours.
He said the decision should protect all of the player’s legal and financial rights.
Rashwan also called on ENPPI’s management and officials to comply fully with the terms of the contract agreed with Sobeih.
He further demanded that the club immediately stop preventing the player from taking part in collective training sessions.
According to comments attributed to the player’s lawyer, continuing to prevent Sobeih from training with the squad would represent a clear and direct breach of FIFA regulations.
Those regulations, Rashwan said, safeguard players’ professional and training rights and protect them from discrimination or pressure.
Sobeih has been absent from El Sharqia ENPPI’s squad since the beginning of the current season.
The defender’s dispute comes after ENPPI merged with El Sharqia at the start of the season, with the team subsequently operating under the name El Sharqia ENPPI.
