Tenerife’s Jesus de Miguel Almeida dies aged 30 as Javier Tebas offers support

Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, has offered his condolences to the family of Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel Almeida, who died on Tuesday at the age of about 30.

Tenerife announced the player’s death at 08:00 local time, prompting an outpouring of grief from the club, its supporters and the wider football community.

“We are broken with pain, struck silent by the shock, and unable to believe that this is real,” Tenerife said in a statement.

“There are no words of comfort and nothing that can ease this overwhelming sadness. We stand beside his grieving family and loved ones, as well as everyone at Tenerife who is mourning this tragic loss today.”

Tebas responded in a post on X, saying: “I am deeply saddened by the death of Jesus de Miguel Almeida, a Tenerife player. Today, we all share the pain of this enormous and irreparable loss.”

He added: “I send my heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, team-mates and everyone at the club. I offer them all my affection and support during these difficult moments.”

The club’s announcement comes ahead of a schedule that lists Tenerife in the Copa del Rey fixture against CD Badajoz on 04 November 2026. Tenerife are also listed against Andorra in the Segunda Division on 08 November 2026, with Mallorca included in the same fixture information.

Tenerife said the loss had left the club unable to find words to express its sorrow and placed its focus on supporting De Miguel Almeida’s family and those close to him.
