David Mokwa: Hoffenheim linked with return for France-Cameroon striker

David Mokwa, the French-Cameroonian centre-forward at SV Elversberg, has been linked with a move back to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

Mokwa, 22, joined Elversberg from Hoffenheim on 3 January 2026 in a deal worth €1.5m. He remains under contract with Elversberg until 30 June 2029, while his current market value is listed at €7m.

The forward has started eight of Elversberg’s eight Bundesliga matches this season, making two appearances as a substitute, and has contributed two goals and one assist. He has also featured twice in the DFB-Pokal.

Mokwa came through the youth system at French club Sochaux before moving to Hoffenheim’s academy in 2022. He later played for Hoffenheim II, helping the side win the German Regionalliga Southwest title in the 2024-25 season, before progressing to the senior club.

His return to Hoffenheim would come less than a year after leaving the club for Elversberg. There is no indication that a deal has been agreed, but the Bundesliga club is identified as the side linked with the move as of 2 November 2026.

Mokwa’s existing Elversberg contract runs through June 2029.
