Real Madrid set to stand firm on January transfer plans after Clasico win

Real Madrid do not intend to sign any new players during the January transfer window, with the club’s decision-makers convinced their current squad is strong enough to compete for their targets this season.

That stance remains in place despite a number of injuries and growing speculation that the team may need reinforcements, particularly in midfield. According to Spanish newspaper AS, the club’s hierarchy has no plans to abandon its usual approach to the winter market and believes Jose Mourinho can achieve the required results with the players already available to him.

The club would, however, consider allowing a player to leave in January if that individual wanted a move. Any departure would require Mourinho’s approval, although such a scenario is not currently expected.

Real Madrid’s view has been strengthened by the team’s performance against Barcelona at Camp Nou. The contribution of Bernardo Silva and Arda Guler in that match helped reinforce the belief within the club that the squad contains sufficient quality to cope with the challenges ahead.

The decision not to recruit in January comes despite continuing discussion about the need to strengthen midfield. Real Madrid are instead prioritising stability and are prepared to wait before deciding whether further changes are necessary.

Loan players remain under review

While new arrivals are not expected, the club is monitoring the progress of several players currently out on loan.

Among those being followed most closely are Jacobo Ramon and Nico Paz, who are both at Como, as well as Rafa Marin and Victor Munoz. Real Madrid have not yet decided whether to activate options allowing any of those players to return.

The club prefers to wait until the spring of next year before reaching a final decision. That will give its officials more time to assess each player’s development and establish how the squad’s needs have evolved.

Jacobo Ramon is regarded as one possible long-term replacement for Antonio Rudiger, but his return to Real Madrid has not been confirmed.

The approach reflects the club’s reluctance to rush decisions in the transfer market. Whether considering new signings or the recall of loan players, Real Madrid would rather retain the current balance of the squad and carry out a fuller assessment later in the season.

The report also lists AEK Athens, the Champions League, 04 November 2026 and Real Madrid.
