Bayern Munich face goalkeeper doubts before Atletico Madrid clash

Bayern Munich could be without both Manuel Neuer and his deputy Jonas Urbig for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid will host Bayern at the Metropolitano in the fourth round of the Champions League league phase.

Neuer was asked whether he would recover in time to play, but the Bayern captain offered only a brief response: “I hope so.”

His availability is expected to be assessed during Monday’s training session, when the club should have a clearer indication of whether he can feature in Madrid.

Urbig is also a concern after feeling dizzy following a blow to the head during Bayern’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The club’s medical staff will continue to monitor his condition before Tuesday’s fixture.

Bayern are also waiting to discover whether Michael Olise will recover from the injury he sustained against Borussia Dortmund. The French forward’s participation against Atletico Madrid is in doubt, according to German newspaper Bild.

The latest fitness concerns follow Saturday’s Bundesliga meeting at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern and Dortmund shared four goals. The result left Bayern top of the table on 18 points, with Dortmund second on the same total but behind on goal difference.

Ismael Saibari undergoes successful surgery after injury against Dortmund.
