RS Berkane secured their first Moroccan league victory of the season by beating Raja Casablanca 2-0 at home on Sunday.
The result came in the sixth round of the competition, ending a run of four successive draws for the hosts.
Youssef Mehri opened the scoring in the 29th minute, before Yassine Bahiri sealed the points with a penalty five minutes from time.
Raja Casablanca struggled to break down a disciplined RS Berkane defence and were unable to find a way through during the 90 minutes.
The victory lifted RS Berkane to seven points from five matches, placing them 12th in the table. Raja Casablanca, who have also played five games, remain on six points in 13th.
RS Berkane had begun their league campaign with four consecutive draws against Moghreb Tetouan, Union Touarga, Renaissance Zemamra and Maghreb de Fes.
The home side’s victory also represented a significant turnaround after their slow start to the season, while Raja were unable to build on their points total.
Elsewhere in the same round, AS FAR were held to a goalless draw by COD Meknes.
The result moved AS FAR to eight points and ninth place. COD Meknes, meanwhile, increased their tally to 11 points and moved into second position.
The two sides could not be separated in a match in which neither team managed to score.
