Kylian Mbappe will face Racing Santander on Sunday aiming to score against a 24th different La Liga opponent and preserve his perfect record in the competition.
The France forward has found the net against every team he has faced in La Liga so far. Racing Santander will become the 24th different side to play against him, with Deportivo due to follow before Christmas.
Mbappe scored twice in Real Madrid’s victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou, taking his career tally against the Catalan club to 14 goals. The double also brought him to 100 goals for Real Madrid at the start of his third season with the club.
He has scored 14 times this season, including 11 goals in La Liga, and remains in contention for both the Pichichi award and the European Golden Shoe.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Mbappe has scored 67 goals in 75 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid. His only previous failure to score against a team in the competition came against Elche, before he ended that run with a goal in the sixth round.
He also scored against Malaga in the third round, the first of the three newly promoted teams Real Madrid had faced. He now needs to score against both Racing Santander and Deportivo to maintain his record against every La Liga opponent he has met.
Real Sociedad are Mbappe’s most prolific La Liga opponents, having conceded seven goals in four matches. Barcelona are next on six in four Clasicos.
As well as his two goals on Sunday, Mbappe scored in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Santiago Bernabeu last season and registered a hat-trick against them at Montjuic two seasons ago.
Villarreal and Sevilla have each conceded five goals to the Frenchman. He has scored once against Malaga, Elche and Real Mallorca, with Mallorca proving the most difficult opponent: Mbappe has scored only once in four meetings.
Mbappe’s recent run
Mbappe returned from the latest international break in strong form, scoring six goals and providing one assist in his last five matches for Real Madrid.
He hit the post against Villarreal immediately after returning to club football, but then scored against Roma, followed by two goals against Sevilla. His first goal in that match is regarded as his best for Real Madrid so far.
He then scored and assisted against Leipzig before another brace secured victory over Barcelona.
Mbappe has opened the scoring for Real Madrid against Real Sociedad, Inter Milan, Rayo Vallecano and Barcelona. He also scored Real Madrid’s first goal against Roma, equalising after De Rossi had put the opposition ahead.
Without his goals, Real Madrid would have dropped seven points in La Liga and four in the Champions League, according to those figures.
The numbers highlight the trust placed in Mbappe by Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho. He is Mourinho’s most-used player, having played 1161 minutes, started every match and been substituted only three times, missing just nine minutes in total.
Mbappe will hope to extend that record against Racing Santander on 01 November 2026.
