Inter and Milan meet on Saturday, 31 October 2026, in the 10th round of Serie A with their derby close to reaching a landmark total of 500 goals.
Opta statistics show Inter have beaten Milan more often than any other opponent in Serie A, winning 70 times. They have also scored 260 goals against them, another competition record for goals scored by Inter against a single team.
Milan have scored 236 times against Inter. Only Roma, with 237, and Juventus, with 270, have conceded more goals to Inter in the competition.
The derby has produced 496 goals in total. If four more are scored, it will become only the third fixture in Serie A history to reach 500, following Inter’s matches against Roma, which have yielded 544 goals, and Fiorentina, with 502.
Milan have taken 18 points from their opening nine league games this season, matching their tally at the same stage last term. However, in five of the previous six seasons, the Rossoneri had collected at least 21 points after their first 10 matches. The only exception was 2024-2025, when they had 17 points.
Their home form has also weakened. Milan have lost four of their last eight Serie A matches at home, alongside three wins and one draw. That is the same number of defeats they suffered in their previous 29 home league games, a run that included 15 victories and 10 draws.
The Rossoneri have conceded six goals across their last two home matches, one more than the total they allowed in their preceding five.
Inter have scored in each of their last 19 Serie A matches, the longest active scoring run among teams currently in the top flight. Their last failure to find the net came against Milan on 8 March 2026.
They have scored at least twice in 16 away league matches since the beginning of last season. Only Bayern Munich, with 18 such games, have done so more often in Europe’s five major leagues, while Barcelona also have 16.
Inter and Milan are the only Serie A teams this season with players who have scored at least four goals. Inter’s Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez have reached that mark, as have Milan’s Adrien Rabiot and Alfadjo Cisse.
Hakan Calhanoglu played 135 Serie A matches for Milan between 2017 and 2021, scoring 22 goals and registering 31 assists. He has not contributed to a goal in his last four league derbies against Milan, after producing four in his first five meetings: two penalties and two assists.
Cisse scored twice in his previous match to reach four league goals at 20 years and six days old. A fifth against Inter at 20 years and nine days would make him Milan’s seventh-youngest player to reach that total, and third-youngest in the three-points-for-a-win era behind Alexandre Pato and Stephan El Shaarawy.
Francesco Pio Esposito, aged 21 years and 125 days, could become the youngest Italian to score for Inter in a Serie A derby during that era. Among all Inter players, only Obafemi Martins and Ronaldo scored younger.
Milan have won three of their last four league meetings with Inter, drawing the other, after recording only three victories in their previous 16 derbies, alongside four draws and nine defeats. They have won the last two, but have not claimed three in a row since Carlo Ancelotti’s four-match winning run between 2002 and 2004.
