Al-Ahli’s Roshn Saudi League meeting with Al-Khaleej has been postponed because of flight-related problems, with a new date yet to be confirmed.
The match was scheduled to take place on Thursday evening at Alinma Stadium in Jeddah as part of the competition’s 11th round. Saudi journalist Sami Al-Qadi reported that the league’s organising body was working to rearrange the fixture before making an official announcement.
Al-Khaleej had still been unable to leave Dammam airport for Jeddah by Thursday morning. The club’s travelling party was later reported to be at the airport, but the match could not be played at its originally scheduled time.
The fixture is expected to be held on Friday, although the revised date and arrangements remain subject to official approval.
Under the provisional plan, Al-Ahli v Al-Khaleej would be played at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium at 21:00 on Friday. Al-Ittihad v Al-Diriyah would instead take place at Alinma Stadium at 18:30.
The proposed change would mean four matches involving leading clubs being staged in the Roshn Saudi League on the same day.
Alongside Al-Ahli’s game against Al-Khaleej and Al-Ittihad’s meeting with Al-Diriyah, Al-Nassr are due to face Al-Faisaly, while Al-Hilal play Al-Qadsiah.
The clubs and league organisers are still waiting for the necessary confirmations before the revised schedule can be formally announced.
