Barcelona considering move to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has reportedly identified Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies as his preferred option to strengthen the club’s left-back position.
According to Catalan online newspaper El Nacional, via fussballtransfers.com, Flick is interested in reuniting with the Canadian international, having previously worked with him at Bayern Munich.
However, Barcelona may need to sell Alejandro Balde before pursuing a move for Davies, with the Spanish defender reportedly considered a potential departure in the winter transfer window.
Bayern open to Davies sale
Reports from Bild journalists Christian Falk and Julian Agardi on the Bayern Insider podcast indicate that Bayern Munich would be willing to consider selling Davies if they receive an appropriate offer.
It remains unclear whether Barcelona could make a move for the defender in January or wait until next summer.
Any potential transfer will depend on Barcelona’s squad plans and whether the club can make room for the Canadian.
Flick reunion could appeal to Davies
Davies enjoyed a major breakthrough under Flick at Bayern Munich during the 2019-20 season, when the German club won the treble.
Their previous working relationship is one reason Flick is reportedly keen to bring the defender to Barcelona.
As thing stand, the possibility of a move remains uncertain, with Balde’s future and Bayern’s asking price likely to influence whether Barcelona pursue their reported interest.
