Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a major injury setback after Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos sustained thigh injuries during their 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona.

The French club confirmed that Ballon d’Or winner Dembélé has suffered a left thigh injury, while Brazilian defender Marquinhos picked up a right thigh strain.

Both players are expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines as they undergo treatment.

Dembélé forced off against Barcelona

Dembélé withdrew early in the first half of Wednesday’s Champions League encounter after sustaining his injury while chasing the ball.

PSG confirmed that the forward would remain under treatment for the coming weeks, leaving his availability for the club’s upcoming fixtures in doubt.

Marquinhos suffered his injury in the second half against Barcelona, who are managed by Hansi Flick.

The defender’s absence would be another setback for PSG as they look to maintain their form in domestic and European competition.

Kvaratskhelia also faces lengthy absence

The injuries to Dembélé and Marquinhos came alongside a serious setback for Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

PSG confirmed on Wednesday morning that the winger had suffered a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee and would undergo surgery in the coming days.

Kvaratskhelia’s injury adds to the club’s concerns following their victory over Barcelona at the Parc des Princes.

Despite securing an important 4-2 win in the third matchday of the Champions League, PSG must now contend with the absence of several key players as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
