Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan hold five-hour talks with Egyptian FA president Hany Abo Rida
Hany Abo Rida, president of the Egyptian Football Association, hosted a dinner for Egypt’s national team coaching staff, led by brothers Hossam Hassan and Ibrahim Hassan.
The gathering was also attended by Egyptian Football Association board members Mostafa Abu Zahra, Tarek Abu El Enein and Hamada El Sherbiny, along with the association’s secretary general, Mostafa Azam.
Abo Rida held talks with Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan for five hours during the dinner, with discussions focused on Hossam Hassan’s future and preparations for the next stage of the national team’s work.
The Egyptian Football Association said the coaching pair thanked Abo Rida for his support and backing. They also reaffirmed their commitment to working hard with the association, the national team and its players to continue achieving success and enhancing Egypt’s reputation.
The meeting took place after the Egyptian Football Association confirmed that it had received the sanctions imposed on Hossam Hassan, Egypt manager, Ibrahim Hassan, the team’s director, and Egypt player Mustafa Ziko.
The three men were punished over incidents during Egypt’s match against Argentina at the 2026 World Cup. Egypt lost the last-16 tie 3-2.
FIFA has suspended Hossam Hassan and Ibrahim Hassan for three matches each, while Mustafa Ziko has been given a five-match suspension.
As a result, all three will miss Egypt’s two matches against Malawi next month in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Hossam Hassan and Ibrahim Hassan will also be unavailable for Egypt’s first match in March 2027, against Angola.
Ziko’s suspension will keep him out of Egypt duty until June next year. That means he will miss the four remaining matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, as well as one additional match.
