Johan Manzambi snubs Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich interest to stay at Aston Villa

Aston Villa midfielder Johan Manzambi has reportedly ruled out an immediate departure from Villa Park despite attracting interest from European heavyweights Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The 21-year-old Switzerland international is understood to be keen to continue his development under Unai Emery, believing that remaining at Villa offers the best platform for his long-term progress.

Manzambi has made an impressive start to life in the Premier League since joining Villa from SC Freiburg for €60 million in July. The midfielder has already registered two goals and two assists in four appearances, quickly establishing himself as a player attracting attention beyond England.

His early performances have strengthened his reputation and drawn interest from clubs across Europe, but the growing speculation has not reportedly changed his immediate plans.

Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich circle

Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are among the clubs monitoring Manzambi’s progress as his stock continues to rise.

Bayern’s interest is particularly notable given the midfielder’s previous experience in the Bundesliga with Freiburg. The German champions remain admirers of his qualities, having followed his development before his move to England.

Barcelona have also reportedly been impressed by his performances since arriving in the Premier League, adding another major European club to the list of potential suitors.

Liverpool’s interest further underlines the attention Manzambi has attracted after making an encouraging start to his Aston Villa career.

However, interest from some of Europe’s most prominent clubs has not prompted the midfielder to consider an immediate transfer. He is reportedly satisfied with his situation at Villa and wants to focus on establishing himself under Emery.

Emery’s project key to Villa decision

Manzambi’s reported decision to remain at Aston Villa reflects his desire to prioritise development over an early move elsewhere.

Since arriving from Freiburg, the midfielder has demonstrated his attacking contribution, recording four goal involvements in his first four appearances. His ability to influence matches has helped generate interest from clubs seeking to strengthen their midfield options.

Continuing under Emery would allow Manzambi to build on that promising start while adapting further to the demands of English football.

Aston Villa’s decision to secure his services on a contract running until June 2031 also provides the club with a degree of long-term security over his future.

With several major European clubs reportedly monitoring his progress, Villa could face increased attention surrounding the midfielder if he maintains his current form.
