Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, with both Premier League clubs monitoring his situation ahead of future transfer windows.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have already made contact to assess the conditions of a potential deal for the Germany international, while Liverpool view him as an alternative target should their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott prove unsuccessful.

Nmecha, 26, has established himself as an important member of Dortmund’s midfield since joining from Wolfsburg in 2023. His physical presence, technical ability and versatility have attracted interest from several leading European clubs.

Liverpool are reportedly prioritising Scott, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea. However, competition for the Bournemouth midfielder could force the Merseyside club to consider alternative options, with Nmecha among the players under consideration.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have maintained their interest in the Dortmund star as they assess potential midfield reinforcements. A move to Old Trafford could appeal to Nmecha, who spent more than a decade in Manchester City’s academy before beginning his senior career in Germany.

Nmecha signed a contract extension with Dortmund in March 2026, committing his future to the German club until June 2030. The agreement includes a release clause reportedly worth €80 million from 2027, falling to €70 million in 2028.

Dortmund are under no immediate pressure to sell the midfielder and consider him an important part of their long-term plans. Sporting director Ole Book previously described a summer departure as highly unlikely, reinforcing the club’s determination to retain his services.

The release clause could nevertheless make Nmecha an increasingly attractive target when the 2027 transfer window approaches.

For now, both Liverpool and Manchester United must weigh up the financial implications of a potential deal as they continue monitoring the midfielder’s performances in the Bundesliga.
