Barcelona and Bayern Munich monitor Johan Manzambi after impressive Aston Villa start
Johan Manzambi has attracted interest from several European heavyweights following an impressive start to life at Aston Villa, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich reportedly monitoring the Swiss midfielder’s progress.
The 21-year-old joined Villa from SC Freiburg during the summer in a deal worth approximately €60 million, including bonuses. Despite missing the beginning of the season through a knee injury, Manzambi has quickly established himself as an influential figure under Unai Emery.
Manzambi has recorded three goals and three assists in his first six appearances for the Premier League side, helping Villa secure important victories against Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
His performances have also strengthened his growing partnership with former Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. Operating in an advanced midfield role, the Swiss international has demonstrated his ability to create chances, arrive in dangerous attacking positions and deliver decisive contributions in the final third.
According to TEAMtalk, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are among the clubs closely following his development. Both sides were reportedly impressed by his performances at Freiburg and have continued monitoring his progress since his move to England.
Liverpool have also been linked with the midfielder, with reports suggesting the Merseyside club are assessing him as a potential future addition to their midfield.
Despite the growing interest, Manzambi is reportedly happy at Aston Villa and has no immediate plans to leave. The midfielder believes working under Emery provides an excellent opportunity to continue developing and competing at the highest level.
His contract runs until 2031, placing Villa in a strong negotiating position should any club attempt to secure his signature in the future.
Manzambi’s rapid emergence has also helped energise Villa supporters, who have embraced the midfielder following his decisive performances in the Premier League and Europe.
For now, the Swiss international remains focused on maintaining his form in Birmingham. However, if his impressive performances continue, interest from Europe’s leading clubs is likely to intensify ahead of future transfer windows.
