PSG fans in Ouagadougou back Paris to overcome Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain supporters in Ouagadougou believe their side can beat FC Barcelona in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League meeting, although they remain aware of the threat posed by the Catalan club’s current form.

Paris Saint-Germain host FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, in the third round of the league phase. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 Burkina Faso time.

Ahead of the match, Christian Narcisse Hien, Brahima Sidibe, Issiaka Sanou and Ousmane Drabo offered contrasting views on the likely outcome. Their assessments differ, but all four believe Paris have genuine grounds for optimism.

Hien says Paris Saint-Germain should not be intimidated by Barcelona’s recent results. He points to last season, when many observers doubted the French club before its Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich.

“For me, PSG have no reason to fear Barcelona, even if they are in very good form,” he said.

“All the observers thought Bayern would make short work of PSG. The reality was there on the pitch.”

Hien expects a closely fought contest and believes both teams have the qualities to win.

“It is 50-50, but the balance is more in PSG’s favour. This is Paris!” he added.

Sidibe is taking a more cautious approach. He believes Paris Saint-Germain can disrupt Barcelona’s rhythm but also expects an entertaining game with plenty of goals.

“Anything is possible in this match. If there is one team capable of stopping the Catalan machine at the moment, it is us,” he said.

However, he is reluctant to predict an end to Barcelona’s current run of 11 consecutive victories.

“With a little objectivity and realism, I find it difficult to see Barcelona ending that run with a defeat. That is why I am predicting a draw with lots of goals: 3-3, 2-2…” he said.

Sidibe believes no outcome can be ruled out.

Sanou focused on the tactical battle, highlighting the attacking threat of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue. He said their performances could have a major influence on Paris Saint-Germain’s ability to score.

“If Kvaratskhelia and Doue are on form, PSG will score a lot of goals tomorrow,” he said.

He also warned that Barcelona possess considerable technical quality in midfield.

“Barcelona have a major asset in midfield with Pedri and Rodri. If they build a good connection with Yamal, it could cause problems.”

For Sanou, controlling the midfield and exploiting space will be central to the outcome.

Drabo’s confidence is based on Paris Saint-Germain’s recent performances, particularly their 4-2 victory away to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on 14 October.

“Anything can happen in football. Otherwise, City were in good form when PSG travelled there. Anything can happen,” he said.

Drabo was especially impressed by Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield in that match.

“I watched the game against City again. Wow! PSG’s midfield was monstrous. If they produce the same performance, Barcelona are finished.”

The supporters in Ouagadougou are therefore approaching the Parc des Princes clash with confidence, while recognising the quality of the opposition. Some expect Paris Saint-Germain’s collective strength to prevail; others are predicting a high-scoring draw. The decisive answer will come on the pitch.
