Yan Diomande sets major Real Madrid record after goal and assist against Sevilla
Ivorian international Yan Diomande has made history at Real Madrid after becoming the youngest player for the Spanish giants in the 21st century to score and provide an assist in the same La Liga match.
The 19-year-old achieved the feat during Madrid’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Sevilla on matchday nine of the Spanish top flight, delivering an impressive performance at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Diomande first turned provider by setting up Arda Güler for a goal before getting his name on the scoresheet in the 82nd minute to complete Madrid’s four-goal haul.
At 19 years and 338 days, the Ivorian winger surpassed Jude Bellingham, who previously held the record after scoring and assisting in the same La Liga match at the age of 20 years and 51 days.
The achievement marks another significant milestone in Diomande’s development as he continues to establish himself within the Madrid squad following his reported summer move from RB Leipzig.
His contribution against Sevilla highlighted his ability to influence matches in the final third, combining creativity with a goalscoring threat to help Madrid secure all three points.
For a player still in the early stages of his career, breaking a record previously held by Bellingham represents a notable achievement, particularly given the England international’s impact since joining Madrid.
Diomande will now be looking to build on the performance and maintain his progress as he seeks to become an increasingly important figure in the Spanish club’s attacking setup.
His display against Sevilla has provided an encouraging indication of his potential, while his record-breaking contribution adds another chapter to his early career at Real Madrid.
